CONSULTATION GUIDE

Questions for your
forensic consultant.

A useful consultation begins with a clear question. Use this guide to prepare for a medicolegal review or private postmortem examination.

Before a consultation

These are discussion points to help define your consultation. Case-specific arrangements are established directly with PathCo.

What questions can this consultation address?

Describe the medical findings or medicolegal issues you want clarified. Ask whether the proposed questions fall within the consultant’s scope and what information is needed to assess them.

What materials should I provide?

Ask which records, reports, images, or other materials are relevant to your specific matter. Confirm the preferred method of transfer before sending documents.

What are the limits of the available evidence?

Ask which conclusions the evidence may support, what uncertainties remain, and whether missing information could affect the interpretation.

What will the consultation include?

Confirm the scope of review and the expected form of the findings or discussion. Agree on any deliverables and additional work before the consultation begins.

What are the fees and expected timing?

Discuss fees, deadlines, and availability directly with PathCo. The requirements of the case and the materials available may affect the scope and schedule.

How is a private postmortem examination arranged?

Ask about availability, authorization, location, transport arrangements, and the proposed scope of examination. Contact PathCo directly to discuss the circumstances.
